Barium peroxide is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula of BaO2. It is a gray white powder with strong oxidizing property. It can be used as a bleaching agent, a mordant for printing and dyeing, a decolorizing agent for glass, and an aluminum welding primer. It can also be used to manufacture hydrogen peroxide, oxygen and other peroxides. White or grayish white heavy powder. It usually contains barium oxide. It decomposes slowly in the air. It is insoluble in water, but can be slowly hydrolyzed.
